How good is TalkTalk broadband for my business?
First, let’s talk about choice: TalkTalk offers everything from basic broadband services that run at up to 24Mbps downstream, to FTTP (fibre to the premises) services that can provide up to 1Gbps (1000Mbps). Most of its standard ADSL broadband and FTTC (fibre to the cabinet) are available just about everywhere. The ultra-fast FTTP services are not as widely available – but that’s the same with all Internet Services Providers – and will cost more and take a little more time to install, as the fibre has to run all the way to your premises, which usually means ground-works are required.
TalkTalk also offers GFAST services in many locations – this is a boosted form of FTTC that gives you even higher speeds that the usual upper limit of around 80Mbps for to-the-cabinet connections. Where available, it offers speeds of up to 330Mbps. But in line with the fair, value-for-money approach it takes, TalkTalk does not change more for FTTP services that offer a similar performance.Back to top

ADSL broadband deals for TalkTalk
As already mentioned, the most basic TalkTalk options for standard (ADSL) broadband are available just about everywhere and provide up to 24Mbps download speeds at a cost of £17.99 per month (as of June 2021). You get unlimited downloads included and the contract length is two years.Back to top
Fibre broadband deals for TalkTalk
There’s a tremendous range of fibre services on offer from TalkTalk, starting with the Superfast Fibre 80 which, as the name suggests, offers download speeds of up to 80Mbps. Like the standard broadband – and most of TalkTalk’s services – it comes with unlimited downloads and is provided on a 24-month contract.
The next level of performance is provided by TalkTalk’s Ultrafast GFAST 160 and Ultrafast GFAST 330 services; the former is up to twice as fast as a standard FTTP and the latter is really comparable to an FTTP service, so it would support quite a lot of users and high bandwidth usage. It won’t be as widely available as the Superfast Fibre 80 service, but if you need the extra speed, it’s worth checking out.
In terms of pricing, the Superfast Fibre 80 is £26.99 per month, while the Ultrafast GFAST 160 and Ultrafast GFAST 330 are £39 and £49 per month, respectively. (All prices as of June 2021).
TalkTalk offers an amazing choice of five FTTP services. They start with the TalkTalk Ultrafast FTTP 115, which is only £33 per month (as of June 2021), and then scale up to Ultrafast FTTP 115 (£43); Ultrafast FTTP 330 (£49); Ultrafast FTTP 550 (£69 per month) and Ultrafast FTTP 1000 (£99 per month). (All prices as of June 2021)
You can see that the Ultrafast GFAST 330 and Ultrafast FTTP 330 services are exactly the same speed and price, so why would you choose one or the other. There are two possible reasons you’d choose GFAST: First of all, availability – the FTTP service simple may not be available in your area. Secondly, cost – if it is difficult to install FTTP, and GFAST is available, it will be a lower-cost option.
But you may want to implement FTTP, so that you have the option of steeping up to a faster FTTP service later. This is why TalkTalk offers such a wide range of FTTP options. It means you can start at a relatively modest speed of up to 115Mbps when you first connect, which will help to keep costs down, and upgrade easily and quickly when you need more capacity.Back to top
